*Our next election is March 13, 2012. There will be two Levy questions for Lakeland Joint School District 272 and one Levy question for Joint School District 391 on the ballot.

Only voters in Kootenai County that reside in Lakeland School District 272 or Joint School District 391 (Kellogg) are eligible to vote.

All voters must go to their designated polling place if they want to vote on Election Day. Polls will be open from 8AM to 8PM. To find your polling place location, use the Polling Place look-up feature, which may be accessed by clicking here.

Absentee voting in-person will be available at the Elections Office Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM between February 27, 2012 and March 9, 2012. The last day to request a mail-in ballot is March 7, 2012. To obtain an absentee ballot request form please click here. The request can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Elections Office.

Due to this being a School Levy Election only, not all of our Precincts will be used for this election and some Precincts have been combined due to low registered voter totals. Voters at Precincts 7, 8, & 23 will go to the polling place for Precinct 7, voters at Precincts 9 & 11 will go to the polling place for Precinct 9, voters at 10 &12 will go to the polling place for Precinct 12, voters at 13, 14, &15 will go to the polling place for Precinct 14, and voters at 62 & 68 will go to the polling place for Precinct 62.

Please note that Political Party Affiliation is not required for the March Election, however, it is required for the May Primary Election.

Photo ID is now required to vote in Idaho. If a voter is not able to show a required photo ID, the voter will be given the option to sign the Personal Identity Affadavit. Please click here for more details.

Elections conduct Federal, State, County and Local Taxing District elections for Kootenai County. The four (4) election dates per year are:

  • 2nd Tuesday in March (School Bond or Levy)
  • 3rd Tuesday in May (Primary Election and/or Taxing Districts Elections)
  • Last Tuesday in August (School Bond or Levy)
  • Tuesday following first Monday in November (General Election and/or Taxing Districts Election)

The Elections Office produces poll books and voter lists. Precinct maps, legislative districts and Commissioner district maps are also available. The Elections Office maintains an up-to-date list of registered voters, as well as voting history. This information is available in hard copy as well as on CD-ROM.

Candidates filing for County office do so in the Elections Office, as well as file financial disclosure reports there.
