The County Assistance Office operates on a referral basis, and is "last resources" after other avenues of assistance have been explored. For those who qualify, assistance may be available for medical costs and dental extractions, burial, emergency prescriptions, rent (to avoid eviction) and utilities. An application, interview, and verifications are required. Medicaid and food stamps are State programs.
