Welcome to your Assessor's Office ON-LINE. I am Mike McDowell, your Kootenai County Assessor. I was elected as your Assessor in November, 2002. I began my career with the Assessor's Office in 1977, and served as your Senior Deputy Assessor since 1983. I'm a fourth generation Kootenai County native. My wife Kathy and I have 2 children, Nick and Heather. I am an Idaho Certified Ad Valorem Appraiser, a past member of the Coeur d' Alene City Council, and am active in numerous civic and community organizations.

In the Assessor's Office we are committed to high quality, professional service to the people of Kootenai County. We are proud of the fact that our staff is genuinely concerned about the people and issues that we work with on a daily basis. Our primary areas of service include:

• vehicle license and title processing

• mapping and tracking real property ownership

• appraising all real and personal property within our county for ad valorem purposes

• administering exemptions for homeowners, circuit breaker tax reductions, timber land, agricultural lands, and grazing lands.

• providing customer assistance support for each of the above functions
