9/7/2015 - Labor Day Office Closure
The Kootenai County County Courthouse, DMV, and Administration Building will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
6/15/2015 - Kootenai County Consolidates Land Use Codes
Kootenai County is seeking public input to revise its existing land use codes. The draft document is now available for review, and is meant to serve as a temporary code until an update to the Comprehensive Plan and a subsequent new code can be conducted.

10/30/2015 - Student Essay Contest
The Kootenai County Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) has formally announced its second annual essay contest for students who live in Kootenai County and who will be enrolled in grade levels 6, 7 and 8 (Middle School Level) and 9, 10, 11 and 12 (High School Level) at the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Public, private and home school students are eligible to participate. First, second and third place winners in each level will receive a cash prize of $200, $100 and $50 respectively.

1/1/2015 - Construction Code Editions to Change January 1st
As mandated by the State of Idaho, the 2012 editions of certain Codes will become effective beginning January 1, 2015. The State has made a number of amendments to these Codes, some are significant. Kootenai County is pleased to announce opportunities to those citizens who are interested in serving on one of our County advisory boards. These boards offer the public greater input on local decisions by providing recommendations to the appropriate decision makers.

Kootenai County Code states that no vehicle shall be driven unless the vehicle is constructed, covered or loaded to prevent the possibility of contents or loads from blowing, spilling or otherwise escaping. Violation is a misdemeanor subject to Idaho Code 18-113 or its successor.
8/6/2014 - 2015 Budget Hearing
The Kootenai County Commissioners are pleased to announce the proposed 2015 budget of $79,646,264 is complete with no tax increase planned. Of this amount, $41,278,987 will be funded from property tax. The proposed budget is an overall increase compared to the current adopted budget of $75,105,242. 7/11/2014 - Public Awareness Program Aimed at Aquifer Protection
While most of us probably never consider it, liquids that flow into drywells and catch basins eventually end up in our drinking water-either directly or indirectly.
To raise awareness of this fact, the cities of Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls, in cooperation with Kootenai County, have invested $2,000 on stormwater disks that remind the public not to dump impure liquids.
